VIP - Getting set up

Get extra Online Banking security with VeriSign Identity Protection (VIP)

At Defence Bank, we’re continually looking for new ways to protect our members for possible online fraud and make your online banking experience as secure as possible. With VeriSign Identity Protection (VIP), you’ll enjoy an additional layer of security when transacting on Defence Bank’s Online Banking site. VIP allows you to use your mobile phone as a security token. It’s simple and easy to use, and operates anywhere in Australia and overseas.

Once set up, you will continue to log into Defence Bank’s Online banking using your current member number and password. Any secondary transaction authentication (TA) passwords previously required to complete a banking transaction, will be generated on your mobile’s VIP application. Plus, you’ll no longer need to remember or reset any secondary TA password.

Note: you will need web access on your mobile phone to load VIP.

How to set up VIP:

1. On your mobile phone, you will need to install VIP. You can do that by going to this URL in your mobile web browser: m.verisign.com or go to your phone’s application store and download the VIP Access Application for free. You will need web access on your mobile phone.

2. Login to Defence Bank’s Online Banking site on your computer using your usual password.

3. Click on the Maintenance Menu, then select the Register Token tab on the left hand bar

Enter your current secondary TA password

A screen will appear asking you to Register your Mobile Phone.

4. Launch VIP Access from your mobile phone to see both your six-digit security code and your credential ID.



5. Follow the prompts on your computer screen to register your mobile phone by entering the Credential ID. You will then be prompted to enter your security code. Note: A new security code is automatically generated every 30 seconds. You will then be asked to enter a second security code. This is also generated on your mobile phone. You will also be required to accept the Terms and Conditions displayed on the screen if you wish to proceed.

6. Set up is complete. You can now use VIP each time you transact on Defence Bank’s Online Banking site.
