How to become a member with us.

Becoming a member is as easy as opening your first account online. Here you can apply for other products, organise your new cards to be delivered and set up your eStatements as well as a joint account.

It’s a completely online, seamless process that should take about 10 minutes if you have all your details handy. If you have any questions at any point, don’t hesitate to contact our friendly team.

What we’ll need from you to complete your membership.

  • At least two pieces of personal identification, including a driver’s licence, Australian passport or Medicare card.
  • A new Defence Bank password.
  • Depending on the accounts you open, we may need a few other bits of information, for example a Tax File Number or a Call Centre passcode.

You also need to be over 18, an Australian resident and not a foreign tax resident.

It depends whether the transfer is within Australia or international.
For all general transfers within Australia, use BSB 833-205.
If the transfer is international, you will need to provide the BSB 803-205.
