Defence Bank fast tracks Canberra man into first home.

A first home buyer in Canberra says Defence Bank has fast-tracked his purchase of a new home by recommending the First Home Loan Deposit Scheme.

Canberra buyer Wade had been saving and budgeting for five years and recently purchased a local property with a Defence Bank home loan.

“I actually didn’t know much about the FHLDS until I went to Defence Bank. I had Tammy (one of Defence Bank's home loan consultants) arrange it all for me and she saved me quite a bit of time and money without me having to ask.

“While I actually haven’t crunched the numbers myself, I know it would have been a significantly amount more time if I wanted to still secure the same amount of buying power.

“I probably would have been in the market a while longer while simultaneously the prices would only continue to go up and interest rates at the moment are quite low so I probably would have had that to contend with as well. So I would say it has saved me a large amount of time and money.”

Wade purchased a one-bedroom unit, with one bathroom and one parking space.

“Looking and scanning the market, I saw that the location was good, it was close to work and is also in the city as well. So it suits someone my age, everything is close by including coffee shops and pubs.”
